Who am I?
Marleen Ouwerkerk. Nice to meet you!
I created Emma Summer as my pseudonym, since my real name is a little bit harder to pronounce in English.
I was born in spring 1985 and I have developed my self from a cute little baby to a cheerful (sometimes a little goofy) and above all a very creative person with a good sense of humor. I live with my boyfriend, our two sons and our brown Labrador, called Dex, in a nice town in the Netherlands. I like spending my free time on photographing, sewing, crochet, singing (when I’m in the shower) and watching movies. But most of all I like to write.
Why write a book?
For as long as I can remember, I’m always being creative and doing lots of different creative things. It hasn’t been that long ago that I discovered that over the years I had one hobby that I continued to practice: writing. Stories, list, books, the alphabet, songs, shopping carts, you name it. I just love to write.
To make a long story short: after a fierce, prolonged burnout, I realised that there are certain things in my life that I do not want anymore and certain things that I do want. The things that I would like to have been doing all along, were pushed away by the old me, with a note to myself like: I won’t make it, nevertheless. I can not do that. Or people won’t like it… I left that in the past and now I’m doing things that feel good and not what other people think I should do. On my computer, I searched for the file of a book that I had started years ago and continued writing. My first book – a thriller – is finished and I’m I’m determined to publish it, one way or another! In the meantime, I’m writing on other projects, witch you can find on this site.
I hope to inspire people to just go on and do what you always wanted to do. You only have one life, so why not make it an awesome one?
